
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was conferred the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit during a special ceremony in Oslo, recognising his contribution to strengthening India-Norway relations and global cooperation.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi received the prestigious ‘Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit’ from His Majesty Harald V during a special ceremony held in Oslo. The award is Norway’s highest honour bestowed upon foreign Heads of Government and is presented in recognition of outstanding service in the interest of Norway and humanity.
Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi expressed heartfelt gratitude to His Majesty King Harald V and the people of Norway for the honour. He dedicated the award to the enduring friendship between India and Norway and described it as a symbol of the warmth, trust, and affection shared between the people of both nations.
The conferment of the award highlighted the deep goodwill and strong bilateral ties between India and Norway and reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to expanding cooperation in the future.
During his visit, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also had an audience with His Majesty King Harald V at the Royal Palace in Oslo. The Prime Minister conveyed greetings and best wishes from the people of India and appreciated Norway’s natural beauty. He noted that India and Norway continue to strengthen their partnership based on shared democratic values, the rule of law, and people-centric governance.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and His Majesty King Harald V discussed growing cooperation between Indian and Norwegian companies across various sectors, especially in emerging and new technologies. The audience was followed by a luncheon hosted by His Majesty in honour of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
