Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the growing partnership between India and the Netherlands during delegation-level talks with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten. The discussions focused on investment, innovation, sustainability, defense, and people-to-people ties.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked Netherlands Prime Minister Rob Jetten for the warm welcome extended to him and his delegation during his visit to the Netherlands. PM Modi said he was happy to visit the country after nearly a decade and noted that India-Netherlands relations have made remarkable progress over the last ten years.
During the delegation-level talks, PM Modi described the Netherlands as one of India’s most important partners. He highlighted that the Netherlands is among the top five investors in India and said the historical, cultural, and people-to-people ties between the two countries remain very strong.
The Prime Minister stated that shared democratic values, market economy principles, and responsible global behavior form the foundation of the partnership between the two nations. He also underlined that cooperation in sectors such as water management, healthcare, and education has improved the lives of people in both countries.
PM Modi recalled that India had invited the Netherlands as a guest country during India’s G20 Presidency in 2023, reflecting the growing cooperation between the two sides. He also expressed happiness over the participation of the former Dutch Prime Minister in the AI Impact Summit held in India earlier this year.
Highlighting India’s economic growth, PM Modi said India is the world’s youngest country and the fastest-growing major economy. Referring to PM Rob Jetten as a representative of the new generation of Dutch and European leadership, he said India’s speed and scale should be combined with the Netherlands’ expertise in various sectors.
The Prime Minister stressed the need to expand cooperation in innovation, investment, sustainability, and defense. He announced that both countries have decided to elevate India-Netherlands relations to the level of a Strategic Partnership based on a shared vision for the future.
