
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met President of Italy H.E. Mr. Sergio Mattarella at the Presidential Palace in Rome, where the two leaders reviewed the growing India-Italy Strategic Partnership and discussed cooperation in trade, technology, defence, and global issues.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi thanked President Sergio Mattarella for his continued support and leadership in strengthening India-Italy relations. The two leaders reviewed the growing momentum in the India-Italy Strategic Partnership and expressed satisfaction with cooperation across sectors including trade and investment, science and technology, research and innovation, defence and security, space, energy, education, culture, and people-to-people ties.
The leaders also discussed collaboration in emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, and critical technologies, highlighting the importance of innovation-driven partnerships between the two countries.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and President Sergio Mattarella noted that the early conclusion of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement would provide fresh momentum to India-Italy and India-Europe economic cooperation. They also discussed the strategic importance of the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC) in strengthening maritime security, digital connectivity, and energy supply chains.
The two leaders exchanged views on regional and global developments, including ongoing conflicts in West Asia and Europe. They reaffirmed their shared commitment to international law, freedom of navigation, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi thanked President Sergio Mattarella for the warm hospitality extended during the visit and invited him to visit India at a mutually convenient time.
