
Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi and Netherlands Prime Minister Rob Jetten witnessed the signing of a key agreement between Tata Electronics and Dutch semiconductor equipment company ASML to support India’s first front-end semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Netherlands Prime Minister Rob Jetten, today witnessed the signing of an agreement between Tata Electronics and ASML to support the semiconductor fabrication facility being established in Dholera.
The agreement marks a major step in India’s efforts to build a strong semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem and strengthen domestic chip production capabilities.
Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Jetten welcomed the partnership between Tata Electronics and ASML for India’s first front-end semiconductor fabrication unit in Gujarat. Shri Modi described the collaboration as an important milestone in India’s semiconductor journey and a significant development for the country’s technology and manufacturing sectors.
ASML, headquartered in the Netherlands, is one of the world’s leading suppliers of advanced lithography systems used in semiconductor chip manufacturing. Tata Electronics, a subsidiary of the Tata Group, is developing semiconductor and electronics manufacturing infrastructure in India.

Addressing a roundtable meeting with leading Dutch CEOs in The Hague, Prime Minister Modi highlighted the growing partnership between India and the Netherlands in technology, innovation and manufacturing.
The Prime Minister said more than 300 Dutch companies are currently part of India’s growth story and noted that the Netherlands has emerged as one of India’s largest investors and second-largest trading partners in Europe.
Shri Modi praised companies such as NXP, Philips and Prosus for building world-leading solutions using Indian talent. He also highlighted the contribution of Dutch firms in India’s port, shipping, logistics, agriculture and sustainability sectors.
Referring to the ASML-Tata agreement, Prime Minister Modi said India will now manufacture semiconductor chips using ASML’s advanced equipment. He stated that India’s growing manufacturing ecosystem, policy reforms and incentives are creating major opportunities for global companies.
The Prime Minister emphasized that India has become one of the world’s fastest-growing major economies and is rapidly expanding infrastructure, clean energy and digital connectivity. He said India’s electronics sector, once heavily dependent on imports, has now become one of the country’s largest export sectors.
Shri Modi also highlighted India’s reforms in taxation, labour laws and governance aimed at improving ease of doing business and making manufacturing in India more cost-effective.
Speaking about India-Europe relations, the Prime Minister said 2026 marks the beginning of a new “golden era” in ties between India and Europe following the historic India-European Union Free Trade Agreement.
He announced plans to deepen India-Netherlands cooperation through strategic partnerships in green hydrogen, advanced technology, talent mobility, university collaboration and joint research and development initiatives.
Prime Minister Modi invited Dutch businesses to expand investments and innovation partnerships in India, assuring them of strong opportunities in the country’s rapidly growing economy.
The semiconductor partnership between Tata Electronics and ASML is expected to play a key role in India’s ambitions to become a global semiconductor manufacturing hub.
