Indian travelers can now transit through French airports without a visa from April 10, 2026, strengthening India-France ties.
The Government of France has operationalised visa-free transit for Indian nationals passing through its airports in the European territory. The new measure came into effect on April 10, 2026.
Under this arrangement, Indian citizens transiting through French airports exclusively by air will no longer require a transit visa. The move is expected to make international travel more convenient for Indian passengers using France as a transit hub.
This development follows an announcement made earlier by the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, during President Macron’s visit to India in February 2026.
The decision highlights the strong and enduring partnership between India and France. It also reflects the shared commitment of both leaders to enhance bilateral relations and promote closer people-to-people connections by facilitating smoother movement between the two countries.
The visa-free transit policy is expected to benefit a large number of Indian travelers and further strengthen cooperation in areas such as travel, tourism, and international connectivity.
