
JNICC marks the 77th ICCR Foundation Day with dance, yoga, and alumni stories in Jakarta.
The Jawaharlal Nehru Indian Cultural Centre (JNICC), under the Embassy of India, Jakarta, celebrated the 77th Foundation Day of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The event was held at the Wayang Auditorium in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The celebration featured a vibrant mix of cultural performances, including Indian classical and folk dances. These were presented as part of a Regional Group Dance Competition, initiated by JNICC dance teachers Ms. Yashoda Kalal, Ms. Sindhu Raj, and Ms. Shravanti Ralhan. The performances highlighted the diversity and richness of Indian traditions.
A special segment of the programme included a yoga demonstration led by Sunil Karamchandani along with his team. The demonstration showcased the importance of yoga in promoting physical and mental well-being.


Another key highlight was the participation of ICCR alumni who had studied in India. They shared their personal experiences and spoke about the lasting impact of ICCR in building strong cultural and educational connections between India and Indonesia.
The event was attended by Vikram Vardhan and Kamal Khurana. In his remarks, Mr. Khurana emphasized the legacy of ICCR as a leading cultural institution of India and its important role in strengthening global ties through culture, education, and people-to-people connections.

The celebration reflected the continued efforts of JNICC and the Embassy to promote Indian culture abroad and deepen India–Indonesia relations through meaningful cultural engagement.
