External Affairs Minister leads discussions on UN Security Council reforms with members of the Global South.
External Affairs Minister, Dr. S. Jaishankar, hosted the second edition of the L69 and C10 Joint Ministerial meeting in New York. The meeting brought together leaders and representatives of the Global South to push for comprehensive reforms of the United Nations Security Council.
Dr. Jaishankar emphasized the need for unity among nations to strengthen multilateralism and ensure fair representation within the global decision-making body. The L69 group, which represents a cross-section of developing countries from Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, along with the Committee of Ten (C10) from Africa, have been strong advocates for reforming the Security Council to make it more representative and equitable.
The minister described the gathering as one held with a “unity of purpose” and reaffirmed India’s commitment to work alongside other nations in the Global South toward achieving a reformed and inclusive UN framework.
