
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New Delhi, stressing border peace and bilateral stability while accepting President Xi Jinping’s invitation to the SCO Summit in Tianjin.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi received Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Politburo of the Communist Party of China and Foreign Minister, during his visit to New Delhi today.
Mr. Wang Yi handed over a personal message and invitation from President Xi Jinping to Prime Minister Modi for the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, scheduled to be held in Tianjin. He also conveyed a positive assessment of his discussions with External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and the 24th Meeting of the Special Representatives, which he co-chaired with National Security Adviser Shri Ajit Doval.
Prime Minister Modi underlined the importance of maintaining peace and tranquillity along the India-China border and reiterated India’s commitment to a fair, reasonable, and mutually acceptable resolution of the boundary question.
The Prime Minister welcomed the steady and positive progress in bilateral relations since his meeting with President Xi in Kazan last year. He noted that the ties have been guided by mutual respect, mutual interest, and mutual sensitivity, including the resumption of the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra.
Thanking President Xi for the invitation, Prime Minister Modi confirmed his participation in the SCO Summit in Tianjin and expressed support for China’s presidency. He emphasized that stable, predictable, and constructive ties between India and China would significantly contribute to regional and global peace and prosperity.
