Programme expands to Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Kozhikode, and Amritsar airports; ensures immigration clearance in just 30 seconds
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah today inaugurated the Fast Track Immigration – Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI–TTP) at Lucknow, Thiruvananthapuram, Trichy, Kozhikode, and Amritsar airports via video conferencing. The event was attended by senior officials, including the Union Home Secretary and the Director of the Intelligence Bureau.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Amit Shah said that the programme marks the beginning of the next phase of enhancing passenger convenience, aligned with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of Speed, Scale, and Scope. He added that the FTI–TTP not only improves convenience but also strengthens national security by combining advanced technology with the principle of trust.
The Union Home Minister explained that with FTI–TTP, passengers can now avoid long queues, manual checking, and delays, receiving immigration clearance in just 30 seconds. He said efforts are being made to simplify enrolment, including registration at the time of issuing passports and OCI cards, so that maximum travellers can benefit.

Shri Amit Shah highlighted that the FTI–TTP was first launched in 2024 at Delhi Airport, later extended to Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Kochi, and Ahmedabad, and now expanded to five more airports, bringing the total coverage to 13 airports. The Ministry of Home Affairs also plans to extend it to Navi Mumbai and Jewar airports in the future.
Sharing data, the Union Home Minister said that about 3 lakh travellers have registered on the FTI–TTP portal, with 2.65 lakh already using the facility. He added that all those who have experienced the programme have praised its efficiency and ease of use.
He also pointed out that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, international passenger traffic has grown significantly. In 2014, 3.54 crore Indians travelled abroad, which increased by 73% to 6.12 crore in 2024. Similarly, foreign visitors to India grew from 1.53 crore in 2014 to nearly 2 crore in 2024 — an increase of about 31%. Overall, international passenger traffic grew from 5.07 crore in 2014 to 8.12 crore in 2024, a rise of 60%.
The programme has been implemented through the online portal https://ftittp.mha.gov.in. Travellers can register by submitting details and documents online, after which their biometrics are collected at FRRO offices or airports. At the e-Gates, passengers simply scan their boarding pass and passport, and once biometrics are verified, the gates open automatically, granting clearance.
Shri Amit Shah emphasised that the government’s goal is to ensure that all Indian citizens and Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders benefit from this fast, secure, and modern system.
