Shri Amit Shah highlights Sanand’s transformation into an industrial hub and stresses tree plantation under PM Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth approximately ₹66 crore in the Sanand Assembly constituency of Gujarat, through video conferencing from New Delhi.
In his address, Shri Amit Shah said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the NDA candidate Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan won the Vice-Presidential election, marking another major victory. He noted that with Shri Radhakrishnan’s election, India’s top constitutional offices reflect the unity of the country’s four regions — President Smt. Droupadi Murmu from Eastern India, Vice-President Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan from Southern India, and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who represents Western and Northern India.
Shri Amit Shah stated that Sanand has been developed with a comprehensive plan, ensuring that by 2029 not a single village in the constituency will be deprived of basic amenities. Work is underway to strengthen roads, healthcare, sanitation, drinking water, and afforestation. He mentioned that the Dholera Special Investment Region and other industrial projects will transform Sanand into Gujarat’s most industrially developed tehsil.
He highlighted that 111 villages in Sanand faced water shortages for years. This issue is being addressed through a project costing ₹750 crore, with another ₹1,000 crore project planned to provide water to every household and farm. Additionally, development works worth ₹150 crore through CSR initiatives are being implemented in consultation with the District Collector, local MLA, and industry representatives.
On the industrial front, Shri Amit Shah announced that Micron Technology’s semiconductor unit will begin operations in Sanand soon, adding momentum to the region’s development. Referring to the recent SEMICON India 2025, he mentioned that Prime Minister Modi unveiled India’s first fully developed 32-bit processor, ‘Vikram-32’.
Shri Amit Shah also appealed to citizens to actively participate in Prime Minister Modi’s “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, urging maximum tree plantation in villages, schools, and open municipal spaces. He proudly noted that the Gandhinagar Lok Sabha constituency has set a record for the highest number of tree plantations in Gujarat under the Green Gandhinagar Project.
During today’s program, 29 projects were inaugurated and 23 foundation stones laid, covering initiatives in afforestation, rural road schemes, school development, and other essential infrastructure, with a total investment of about ₹66 crore.
