
The President of India applauded artists for enriching culture and urged support for fair pricing of artworks.
The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, attended the award ceremony of the 64th National Exhibition of Art, organized by the Lalit Kala Akademi, in New Delhi on September 24, 2025.

Addressing the gathering, the President congratulated the award-winning artists and expressed confidence that their recognition would inspire others in the creative field. She noted that since its inception in 1955, the National Exhibition of Art has served as an important platform to promote diverse forms of visual art. She praised the efforts of the Ministry of Culture and the Lalit Kala Akademi for fostering creativity and cultural exchange.

Highlighting the deep roots of art in Indian tradition, the President said art is not only a means of aesthetic appreciation but also a way of strengthening cultural heritage and building a more sensitive society. She emphasized that Indian artists, through their vision and imagination, are presenting the image of a new India.

The President underlined that artists dedicate significant time, energy, and resources to create their work, and that fair pricing of artworks is essential to encourage them and those aspiring to take up art as a profession. She welcomed Lalit Kala Akademi’s initiative to encourage the sale of artworks, saying it would provide financial support to artists and help strengthen India’s creative economy.
Appealing to art lovers, the President urged them to not only admire artworks but also bring them home. She called for collective efforts to strengthen India’s identity as both an economic and cultural power.
