Prime Minister calls for ethical, inclusive and human-centric AI at global summit held in India. Leaders from over 100 countries attend the historic event.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed global leaders, innovators, and industry experts at the India AI Impact Summit 2026 held in New Delhi. The event brought together representatives from more than 100 countries, making it one of the largest global gatherings focused on Artificial Intelligence.
In his speech, the Prime Minister welcomed heads of governments, technology leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, and young innovators. He said India represents one-sixth of humanity and has the world’s largest young population and one of the biggest tech talent pools.
He described Artificial Intelligence as a historic turning point in human civilization. He compared AI to past innovations such as the discovery of fire, the invention of writing, and wireless communication. He said AI is not only making machines intelligent but also increasing human capability at an unprecedented speed and scale.
The Prime Minister stressed that the key question is not what AI can do in the future, but what humanity chooses to do with AI today. He said AI must move from being machine-centric to human-centric.
At the summit, he introduced India’s “MANAV” vision for AI. MANAV stands for:
- M – Moral and Ethical Systems
- A – Accountable Governance
- N – National Sovereignty
- A – Accessible and Inclusive
- V – Valid and Legitimate
He said this vision aims to ensure AI works for the welfare and happiness of all. He emphasized that AI should not turn humans into mere data points and must be democratized, especially for the Global South.
The Prime Minister also spoke about the future of work. He said AI will create new jobs and industries, even if they are not yet fully imagined. He highlighted the need for large-scale skilling, reskilling, and lifelong learning so that people can work alongside intelligent systems.
He called for global standards to address challenges such as deepfakes and fabricated content. He suggested digital authenticity labels, similar to nutrition labels on food products, to help people identify AI-generated content. He also stressed the importance of child safety in AI spaces.
The Prime Minister said some countries treat AI as a strategic asset developed in secrecy. However, he stated that India believes AI should be shared openly for global benefit. He encouraged open code and collaboration so that young minds can make AI safer and better.
He also announced that three Indian companies launched new AI models and apps during the summit, showcasing the strength of India’s youth and innovation ecosystem.
The Prime Minister highlighted India’s efforts in semiconductors, chip-making, quantum computing, secure data centers, and its growing startup ecosystem. He invited global companies to “Design and Develop in India” and “Deliver to the World.”
The India AI Impact Summit 2026 marks a major step in shaping a responsible and inclusive AI future, with India positioning itself as a global hub for affordable, scalable, and secure AI solutions.
