
India, Brazil, and South Africa reaffirmed commitment to cooperation and multilateral reform at their ministerial meeting on the sidelines of UNGA80.
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar joined his counterparts from Brazil and South Africa for the IBSA (India-Brazil-South Africa) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in New York on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA80).
Dr. Jaishankar described the discussions as a “great meeting,” highlighting IBSA’s united call for the transformative reform of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to ensure more representative and effective global governance.
The ministers also reviewed ongoing and upcoming initiatives, including the IBSA Academic Forum, maritime exercise, Trust Fund activities, and steps to expand intra-IBSA trade.
They reaffirmed their commitment to holding frequent meetings to deepen cooperation and advance shared goals, reinforcing IBSA’s role as a key voice of the Global South.
