
Experts from across India gather at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar, to discuss media’s role in nation building and the teachings of ancient Indian thinkers.

Haridwar, October 17, 2025: Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (DSVV) organized a national conference titled “Role of Media in Nation Building: Insights from Ancient Indian Thinkers” on October 17, 2025. The event brought together prominent personalities from the fields of journalism, media, and public service to discuss how media can serve as a force for social awareness, ethics, and national development.

The conference began with a welcome address by Dr. Chinmay Pandya, Pro Vice-Chancellor of DSVV, who emphasized that media’s responsibility goes beyond sharing information. He reiterated Pujya Gurudev’s vision of positive journalism as a means to promote humanity, awareness, and national consciousness.

Distinguished speakers enriched the conference with their perspectives. Shri Dattatreya Hosabale, General Secretary of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, discussed the importance of developing social awareness and unity through media. Shri Uday Mahurkar, author and former Chief Information Commissioner, spoke about transparency, the Right to Information, and independent journalism. Shri Suresh Chavhanke, Editor-in-Chief of Sudarshan News, shared insights on responsible journalism and the current challenges faced by media professionals. Shri Tarun Vijay, former Member of Parliament and Editor-in-Chief of Panchjanya Weekly, reflected on media’s role in democracy and nation-building. Captain Praveen Chaturvedi, Founder and CEO of Prachyam Studios, discussed how digital and new media platforms influence culture and public opinion.

At the closing ceremony, all guest speakers were presented with mementos in appreciation of their valuable contributions. Students who participated in various related events during the week were also felicitated for their enthusiasm and active involvement.

The conference concluded on a positive note, reaffirming the university’s commitment to nurturing ethical journalism inspired by Indian values and visionary thought.
