“Artificial Intelligence must always serve humanity,” said Shri Om Birla at the international conference on “Faith and Future: Integrating AI with Spirituality” at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar.
Haridwar, September 16, 2025 – Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla emphasized that Artificial Intelligence (AI) must remain a tool to serve humanity, not control it, while delivering the inaugural address at the international conference on “Faith and Future: Integrating AI with Spirituality” at Dev Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar.
The conference, jointly organized with the Future of Life Institute, USA, brought together scholars, policymakers, and technology experts to discuss the intersection of technology and spiritual wisdom.
Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami also attended the event, along with senior dignitaries, scholars, and international delegates. The gathering highlighted the growing recognition of aligning technology with human values in creating a better future.

Addressing academicians, students, and international delegates, Shri Birla stressed that integrating AI with spirituality and ethical responsibility was essential for ensuring the technology becomes a force for societal good.
He said, “The true purpose of technology is to enrich and elevate human experience, not to replace it. Artificial Intelligence must be guided by compassion, empathy, and human values if it is to create a just and equitable future.”

Shri Birla highlighted India’s unique role in shaping global discussions on the responsible use of AI, given its traditions of morality, truth, and spiritual wisdom. He suggested that AI could help disseminate India’s ancient knowledge systems worldwide, strengthening cross-cultural understanding and cooperation.
Quoting Indian philosophies such as Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam (“The world is one family”) and Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinah (“May all be happy”), he said these values should guide AI’s development to ensure inclusivity and equity.

Acknowledging both opportunities and risks, Shri Birla said AI has immense potential in healthcare, education, agriculture, and public welfare by making services more efficient, accessible, and affordable.
He urged patience and wisdom in adopting AI, noting that technology should never dominate human will but instead serve as a tool to support moral and spiritual progress.
Shri Birla expressed hope that this conference would become a milestone in building a meaningful global dialogue on aligning spirituality with technological advancement. He stressed that AI’s future must be shaped not only by innovation and efficiency but also by compassion and ethical responsibility.
The three-day conference included multiple sessions and discussions on AI ethics, spirituality, sustainable development, and the role of ancient wisdom in guiding technological innovation.
